Just Who Is The Animal? |

Friends of Pets, Heaven Can Wait, and Paws with Pride, members vocal about the conditions of this facility affected. County Executive James McCarthy, Legal Director Karen Doty, Craig Stanley, and Animal Control Director Chrissy Congrove-Fatheree WOULD RATHER HAVE ANIMALS DIE than permit these rescue groups to save animals. Mr. McCarthy appears to be more interested in covering up the wrong doings of his staff and an ill run facility than working with rescue groups and saving lives. |

Do NOT surrender your dog or cat to the Summit County Animal Control Facility, unless you want it KILLED! Chrissy Congrove has instituted the policy that ALL owner surrenders will be immediately KILLED, unless the owner can provide proof that the animal is spayed/neutered and vaccinated, AND if SHE deems it adoptable! |
Chrissy Congrove and Craig Stanley LIED to the National Animal Control Association about rescue groups being contacted when kittens and puppies come in. They are put into the general population, where they have no chance of fighting off diseases, including Parvo for puppies. Chrissy Congrove and Craig Stanley would rather have kittens and puppies DIE than to cooperate with local rescue groups! |
Craig Stanley changed the appropriate cleaning chemicals used to one that should NOT be used around animals to save money: NeutraStat HD. Craig Stanley is directly responsible for animals ingesting these chemicals and being exposed to these chemicals. |

On July 31st, the long awaited NACA re-evaluation was presented to the county. Of the original 132 recommendations for improvements at the SCACF, 61 were found to be implemented, 33 were listed as no progress and 38 were partially implemented. The county is claiming to have cleaned up the problems. We, of course, know that is not the case and as soon as NACA left town, everything went back to the original horrible practices and what happed to Lori's poor Llew is a compelling example of this. “This report confirms that we are in compliance
with our laws and that staff is moving forward on quality care for our
animals,” said Summit County Executive James B. McCarthy. “I am
happy with the progress and look forward to working on a new
facility.” This is an erroneous comment. Read

Summit County Executive, James B. McCarthy, appoints ANOTHER unqualified person to work at the Summit County Animal Control Facility. Fred Farina, who lost a Mayoral re-election in Mogadore, is now employed as an Executive Consultant to unqualified director, Chrissy Congrove. Fred Farina has NO SHELTER EXPERIENCE! Summit County citizens and taxpayers are, once again, paying out of their pockets wages of political favor appointments, of unqualified persons, by James B. McCarthy. Mr. James B. McCarthy CONTINUES to abuse his authority, at the expense of taxpayers! |

This dog was at the Summit County Animal Control Facility. It clearly had a LICENSE on it's collar. The Director, Chrissy Congrove, and her staff, made no attempt to contact the owner. A private citizen saw this photo, got the License number, looked up the owner information on the SUMMIT COUNTY GOVERNMENT WEBSITE, and contacted the owner. HOW MANY DOGS HAVE BEEN EUTHANIZED WITHOUT THE OWNER BEING CONTACTED? (07-06) |

ATTENTION BARBERTON, OH RESIDENTS: Barberton Citizens - some members of your council want to pass a law that would pay people $10 per cat to capture cats and take them to the Summit County Animal Control Facility. Imagine your cat-hating neighbor trapping your cat because he doesn't like you or your cat -- and then the city of Barberton rewards them for this by giving them money. And your cat will be dead very quickly before you can even figure out what happened to it. Barberton residents - please speak up now! (Barberton is a city in Summit County) |

``Well, what do they have to hide, I wonder,'' Resch said Wednesday. ``Pretty much everything: There's patronage hires, improper and cruel euthanasia, incompetent staffing, poor record keeping and inhumane practices across the board. These animals continue to suffer on a daily basis.'' |
