Actual photo of the dead animal freezer located in the Summit County Animal Shelter.

This picture shows piles of dead cats, carelessly tossed like garbage into this freezer.

Most cats picked up by the Summit County Animal Shelter are killed before the three day holding period for owner to claim.

Cats never make it to the cattery if they appear feral.  Cats who are afraid will act feral.

If a cat is picked up and taken to the Summit County Animal Shelter, where it is afraid, the employees more than likely, will kill it.

Cats are not scanned for micro chipping when a citizen adopts it, as the Summit County Animal Shelter states it does.

If you are a cat owner in Summit County, you should be very concerned and disturbed.  County Executive James McCarthy stated that the pound is merely a "disposal facility".

This dog was recently rescued from the Summit County Animal Shelter, where dogs are fed, at most, once daily.

It could barely walk and was a mere skeleton.

The County gave the excuse that they did not have enough employees to clean up the waste should they feed the dogs twice.

This Saint Bernard was crammed into a small cage at the Summit County Animal Shelter, although bigger cages were available.

The dog could not stand up, sit, or turn around.

The dog was covered from top to bottom with it's own feces and urine.

It suffered urine burns, infections, and a multitude of illnesses from the neglect it experienced while at the Summit County Animal Shelter.  It was rescued, hospitalized, and had a large amount of Vet bills because of the Summit County Animal Shelter abuse.

This dog was forced to sit in its own diarrhea while Summit County Animal Shelter employees sat and chatted at the front desk.

This dog did not get Veterinary care, as Supervisor Craig Stanley, states sick and injured animals get.

Dogs at the Summit County Animal Shelter are KILLED if they appear sick, EVEN BEFORE THE THREE DAYS AN OWNER HAS TO CLAIM THEIR DOG!

ANIMAL CONTROL MANAGER CHRISSY CONGROVE

ORDERS MASS KILL

One dog had Parvo and Chrissy ordered almost every dog killed.  This shows how inexperienced and uneducated this girl is.  Just because one dog had Parvo does NOT mean all dogs have, or will get, Parvo.  There was NO excuse for this mass kill.  All the more reason to have Chrissy Congrove REMOVED as the Warden.

County Executive James McCarthy hired this 23 year old uneducated, inexperienced County Councilman's daughter, Chrissy Congrove, to manage the County facility.  Summit County Taxpayers are also spending thousands of dollars to TRAIN HER for this $61,000+ position.  A Recall coalition has been formed.  If you live in Summit County, please visit www.recallmccarthy.com.  Tell everyone you know about this website and the Recall McCarthy website.

COUNTY EXECUTIVE JAMES MCCARTHY APPOINTS 23 YEAR OLD CHRISSY CONGROVE AS ANIMAL CONTROL MANAGER, KNOWING HER ONLY ANIMAL EXPERIENCE WAS WORKING AS A SECRETARY WITH THE FIRED WARDEN GLENN JAMES.  READ ABOUT WHAT THE POUND WAS LIKE WHEN GLENN AND CHRISSY WORKED SIDE BY SIDE!

TOGETHER, GLENN JAMES AND CHRISSY CONGROVE RAN A "HOUSE OF HORRORS  (click)"!

"McCarthy further defends Chrissy's hiring. "If we want to keep young people in Akron, we've got to give them jobs," he says. "I really like her. She's smart as hell. I had two idiots in there before her, and she came to me saying she was the one who could get the job done (article) "  Every educated, experienced, young person should be totally insulted by Mr. McCarthy's remarks.   Mr. McCarthy has shown to be unprofessional, once again, with the slanderous and defaming comment about previous employees.

The neglect and abuse of the animals, held at the Summit County Animal Control Facility, are illegal and punishable by law under Ohio Revised Code

959.13 CRUELTY TO ANIMALS

(A) No person shall:

(1) Torture an animal, deprive one of necessary sustenance, unnecessarily or cruelly beat, needlessly mutilate or kill, or impound or confine an animal without supplying it during such confinement with a sufficient quantity of good wholesome food and water;
(3) Carry or convey an animal in a cruel or inhuman manner;
(4) Keep animals other than cattle, poultry or fowl, swine, sheep, or goats in an enclosure without wholesome exercise and change of air,

THE HUMANE SOCIETY of GREATER AKRON

CAN INVESTIGATE AND PROSECUTE

ORC. 1717.06 AGENTS OF COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY
A county humane society organized under section 1717.05 of the Revised Code may appoint agents, who are residents of the county or municipal corporation for which the appointment is made, for the purpose of prosecuting any person guilty of an act of cruelty to persons or animals. Such agents may arrest any person found violating sections 1717.01 to 1717.14, inclusive, of the Revised Code, or any other law for protecting persons or animals or preventing acts of cruelty thereto. Upon making such arrest the agent forthwith shall convey the person arrested before some court or magistrate having jurisdiction of the offense, and there make complaint against him on oath or affirmation of the offense.

The Humane Society of Greater Akron has been rendered ineffective, due to threatened loss of Summit County Funds and threats by Summit County Administrative Services Director Craig Stanley.  Summit County Executive James McCarthy and Law Director Karen Doty have full knowledge of the abuse and inhumane treatment of animals at the Summit County Animal Control Facility and have done nothing to those guilty of animal neglect and abuse.  They, too, must be held legally liable because of their  Willful Violation of the Law.
